Network diagnosis of infarction

The Ministry of Health of the Health Department decided to deploy a network to identify the distance, patients with acute coronary syndrome to hospital emergency departments and the State.

The Central Hospital Dante Pazzanese will be responsible for reviewing examinations of patients arriving in emergency rooms with chest pains. This is only possible through an integrated system diagnostics and technology.

See how it is done
The system, known as Point of Care Test (POCT) is considered the most modern to check levels of troponin, an important marker of necrosis (death of tissue or a portion thereof) for diagnosing unstable angina or myocardial infarction.

Trend in the global diagnosis, the POCT works as a portable test laboratory and has the same size as a credit card machine. In place of the magnetic reader, there is a disposable cartridge to be inserted into the blood sample.

Another advantage is the amount of sample: for just a finger prick, it is possible to get enough blood to check the level of troponin. Agility in the result by means of these tests (10 minutes to the value of troponin), is another distinguishing factor to be considered.
Procedure

The patient undergoes an electrocardiogram test, combined with clinical data, indicating a possible acute myocardial infarction.
The test is passed, along with the ECG by cell phone signal Dante Pazzanese to hospital, where cardiologists on duty make the diagnosis.
The idea is that all hospitals in the state schools to achieve the rates of detection of global patterns of infarcts that today the Dante Pazzanese already has, according to Ricardo Tardelli, state coordinator of Health

On the tele-ECG
We use the cell phone signal to direct the examination to the Central Reports and sent to the requesting unit, at an average of 20 minutes.

The tele-ECG service has a specialized team of 14 cardiologists and remains in full operation 24 hours a day, year round, which eliminates distances and permits a faster and more accurate diagnosis.

Across the state are already 75 hospitals, clinics and integrated health posts to the Central Reports of the Institute Dante Pazzanese. In 2010, more than 170 000 examinations were performed by this system.
